FC Barcelona is in trouble for the transfer window

A particularly complicated new summer awaits FC Barcelona. After a blank season which also really smiled on the Madrid rival, the Catalans will have to work hard to offer a competitive team to Xavi, who will be present on the bench next season. Knowing that, in addition, Real Madrid will be even better on paper with the arrivals of Kylian Mbappé and Endrick. Joan Laporta and Deco therefore have no interest in missing each other, while among the fans, things are clearly cringing.

However, the two thinking heads of Barça are facing a terrible financial reality and are still very bothered by this financial fair play of La Liga. As indicated Relevo, Barça must first get into the green financially, and comply with the famous 1:1 rule. A rule of Spanish financial control which states that the club can spend the same amount as the income that enters the club’s accounts. In recent years, Barça has often been subject to 1:2 or even 1:4, meaning that in the latter case, to be able to spend 25 million euros in the transfer window, it was necessary to bring in 100 million euros!

Laporta must find money before the end of June

To be able to return to these 1:1 which would allow a little more margin, Barça must first find 100 million euros by the end of this financial year. The Catalans are counting in particular on the new deal with the equipment manufacturer Nike, which is reportedly being finalized. There is also the possibility of using these famous levers, and selling part of Barça Studios. Then, third and final option, the sale of players. Suffice to say that Joan Laporta will have his work cut out for him in the coming weeks, but if he manages to recover these 100 million euros, the summer could be a little easier to manage.

Indeed, in 1:1, Barça could for example use all of the sums collected from possible sales of Raphinha or Frenkie de Jong. We must therefore first find €100 million to be in good standing, then then find the money to recruit. For the moment, the Catalan club cannot move forward in the transfer window. Guido Rodriguez, at the end of his contract at Betis, is the only operation well advanced. According to Relevo, Xavi dreams of Nico Williams, the Spanish winger of Athletic, but it is an impossible operation financially at the moment. It goes without saying Bernardo Silva or Joshua Kimmich, other names often linked to the Catalan club, are also unrealistic options at the moment. At work…
