FC Barcelona refused a small fortune for Raphinha!

He was simply on fire. Last week, Raphinha was elected man of the match against PSG during the Champions League quarter-final first leg between FC Barcelona and the capital club. Fair and valuable in the game, the Brazilian winger was above all the one who opened the scoring for the Catalan team before equalizing after returning from the locker room to give hope to the culé club. But now, this remarkable performance does not hide a generally complicated season for the native of Porto Alegre.

In addition to a correct record of 8 goals and 10 assists in 31 matches, the latter is regularly singled out by Catalan socios. Indeed, while they expect more from the former Rennes since his arrival in Catalonia in the summer of 2022 for 58 million euros, the latter often complain about his excessive neutrality in the game. And while it frustrates, the 27-year-old player is regularly announced as being in the hot seat according to the Iberian media. In March, the latter also reported an offer from Saudi Arabia for the left-hander. Facing major financial concerns, FC Barcelona is aware of the high market value of the player under contract until 2027.

A Premier League club offered 60 million euros to secure his services

Given this situation, a sale of Raphinha is not seen as a bad thing in the higher authorities of the Blaugrana club. As a result, every offer for him will be listened to as has been the case in recent months. In this sense, Sport just dropped a little bomb this Monday evening. Indeed, according to the indiscretions of the Catalan source, an offer of 60 million euros for the number 11 of Barça reached the office of the Barcelona decision-makers. This offer, coming from a Premier League club, was however refused according to information from our colleagues on the other side of the Pyrenees. And this could be explained by several reasons.

First of all, the player’s recent performances put doubt in the minds of Barça leaders. Indeed, stratospheric against PSG, Raphinha had already scored the winning goal against Las Palmas a few days earlier. Back in the eleven, the Brazilian is in good shape and his price has therefore increased in the eyes of Joan Laporta. For this reason, Sport indicates that the right winger is now estimated at 80 million euros by his club who will not let him go for a lower price. Who knows, maybe a new masterclass from Raphinha against PSG this Tuesday will further increase his price or even make it inaccessible just a stone’s throw from the summer transfer window.
