FC Barcelona’s surprising new track to replace Xavi

It’s a soap opera that is surely starting to annoy more than one FC Barcelona fan. Less than a month ago, Joan Laporta and Xavi announced, with a big smile, that the coach was finally going to continue the adventure for at least one season. “In my experience, stability is one of the keys to success. I have always focused on continuity. Then, there is another reason: Xavi is an undeniable culé. We are part of a common feeling, and when we analyzed we saw that he is a coach who always thinks about what is best for the club. It was clear to us. Our project requires stability. Young players need a reference and Xavi is that for them. I am very happy. Xavi is unanimous, he has everyone’s trust”confided the president.

He had thus succeeded in changing the mind of the legendary former midfielder of the club and the Spanish selection, who initially wanted to leave his position. And now in recent hours, the Catalan press has indicated that Laporta could finally kick Xavi out. The Barça boss did not appreciate the recent exit of his coach, in which the latter notably highlighted the very complicated financial situation of the club.

A little-known coach

Xavi could therefore be fired quite quickly, and the question of his replacement will therefore, once again, be on the table. Like Bayern, the Catalan club risks struggling and will have difficulty attracting a big name, especially since in addition to the absence of interesting coaches on the market, it also has to deal with financial problems which prevent it from offering salaries huge. According to El Chiringuito de Jugonesthe Catalan club has an astonishing new coach in its sights.

It’s Jonathan Giraldez. This name means nothing to you ? This is rather normal, since the only 32-year-old tactician has never coached men’s clubs. Since 2021, he has been the coach of the Barça women’s team, with whom he has won trophies in spades. The Galician, for example, won the Spanish Cup this weekend, after celebrating La Liga and his team will play the Champions League final against OL next weekend. However, he already has an agreement to coach the Washington Spirit, team in the North American women’s championship, next season. Barça therefore wants to break this agreement and possibly give him the keys to its men’s first team. A strange choice which risks getting people talking…
