Fermin Lopez played a crucial role in Barcelona’s 4-1 victory over Bayern Munich in the Champions League. The midfielder provided two important assists, helping Barça secure their second win in three group-stage matches.

His first contribution came when he sent Raphinha through to score the opening goal, putting Barcelona ahead 1-0.

His second assist allowed Robert Lewandowski to restore Barcelona’s lead at 2-1 after a contested challenge with Kim Min-jae, which some Bayern players believed should have been called a foul.

“I think Kim is too big to take it, I won the position and I was able to touch it before Neuer came out for Robert to score,” said Fermin about the incident.

Reflecting on the game, he acknowledged that while Bayern dominated certain phases and created dangerous chances, Barcelona’s resilience helped them overcome those difficult moments.

“We played a great game and the fans deserved it. Bayern were superior at times and they created chances for us, but we recovered,” he added.

He emphasised the need for full concentration throughout the entire match, given the calibre of Bayern’s players, and expressed his satisfaction with the team’s overall performance.

“Bayern are very good players and they demand concentration from us for the entire 93 minutes.”

Looking ahead to the upcoming Clasico, he remained confident about Barcelona’s ability to compete on all fronts.

“I am sure it will be a nice match because both teams are coming into it well.”

Then there is Lamine Yamal

Meanwhile, Lamine Yamal, despite not scoring, played an influential role in the win. The 17-year-old academy graduate was thrilled with the result, expressing the team’s desire to finally get the better of Bayern.

“We really wanted to win against Bayern. It was very important to beat them 4-1 in a very important week.

We’re doing very well this season, but there’s always the worry of what will happen in the Champions League. We’re a great team and we’ve shown that,” he said.

The victory came at an important time for Barcelona, easing some of the pressure that comes with Champions League expectations.

Yamal also praised his teammates, including Pedri, Marc Casado, and Raphinha, whose hat-trick was key to the team’s success.

“Pedri and Casado have been key, and Rafa for his hat trick, of course. Me? I had a great time, I think it was noticeable and I’m very happy.

As for the El Clasico, Yamal anticipates a tough match but is hopeful that Barcelona will come out on top. “It will be a hard-fought game and we hope to win it.”
