Fermin Lopez was the difference-maker when Barcelona took on Almeria at the Power Horse Stadium last night, helping his side to three vital points.

Not only did the youngster score a match-defining brace for the team but also delivered an all-round performance including 95% pass accuracy, three key passes and a stunning four shots on target.

Further, he completed 100% of his long balls attempted, 100% of his dribbles and won five duels for the men in garnet-and-blue.

Speaking to the media after his man-of-the-match performance, the La Masia star did not hold back on expressing his joy and the team’s mentality heading into the final two games of the season.

“I’m happy for the team and for my performance. We’ll fight for the second place finish until the end.”

Commenting on his first goal on the night, which was made possible with a well-timed run and a perfect header, the youngster said,

“Hector Fort gave me a good cross, but I’ve always been good at heading.”

He then revealed the name of one of Barcelona’s captains as a player who helped him immensely behind the scenes.

“Ter Stegen always helps me a lot.”

Barcelona took the lead against Almeria early in the night but their impetus in attack slowly fizzled out in the period that followed. On the team’s lethargic display after taking the advantage, the man of the moment said,

“Perhaps we relaxed too much after we scored the first goal.”

“We needed the victory, and we played well in general,” he added on the result.
