“The French Football Federation will pay him the tribute he deserves during one of the French team’s next matches.” In a press release published on the FFF website, Philippe Diallo, the head of French football, promised Olivier Giroud, a young retired international, a tribute worthy of the name.
At 37 years old and after 13 years in the tricolor jersey, the top scorer in the history of the French team (137 caps, 57 goals) has decided to retire from international football after the elimination of the Blues in the semi-final of the Euro in Germany. The former center forward of Montpellier and Arsenal, however, is not stopping his career and will join this summer another legend of the Blues across the Atlantic on the side of LAFC, the record holder of caps, Hugo Lloris (145 caps in Blue).
