FIFA updated its world ranking of nations on Thursday.
Despite their home defeat to Italy in the Nations League two weeks ago, Les Bleus remain second in the world football hierarchy. In a top 10 unchanged from the previous month.
In this September ranking, we find the Argentinian world champions in the lead, and the Spanish European champions in third position to complete the podium behind France.
England, Brazil, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, Colombia and Italy follow in the wake of this leading trio, without any upheaval. The first notable change concerns Japan, which gains two places to settle in 16e echelon.
Iran and Denmark move up one level in the Top 20, to 19 respectivelye and 20e from now on. Note also the clear progression of Tunisia and Algeria, 36e and 41e now with a gain of five places. Morocco remains the first African nation, in 14e position, ahead of Senegal 21e.
