Portuguese legend Figo disapproves of Rodri’s proposed strike idea to reduce the number of matches.
Football legend Luis Figo is not at all in favour of a players’ strike. He even believes that the players are complaining a little too much given the sums they are currently earning at their respective clubs.
This week, Manchester City midfielder Rodri floated the idea of a players’ strike to protest an increasingly busy schedule. He said the pressure was being put on the players and that soon there would be no other option but to stop work in order to change things.
Figo proposes to cut wages
A solution that Luis Figo disapproves of. For the 2000 Ballon d’Or, there are other options that can be chosen before such a radical move. “We have to see what the best solution is,” he confided. “But it is logical that there are more and more matches. It’s like a snowball. The more matches, the bigger the contracts. If there are fewer matches, the contracts will be revised downwards.”
Rodri was not the only one to complain about the hectic pace of the matches. Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker made similar comments, as did Jules Kounde.
