There are teaser trailers and then there are TEASER TRAILERS. Final Destination: Bloodlines, the latest film in the ongoing horror series, has just released its first teaser and it’s definitely the latter. The perfect, effective, teaser trailer. It tells us absolutely nothing about the plot but makes us squirm and scream in utter delight nevertheless.

Scheduled for release on May 16, Final Destination: Bloodlines follows a college student who keeps having the same recurring nightmare and has to figure out how to stop it in order to save herself and her family. That’s not in this footage though. Instead we just a sense of the batshit insanity that’s coming to us in a few months. Check it out.

The Final Destination franchise began with the 2000 film in which a group of students narrowly miss being on a plane that explodes right after it takes off. Their relief at surviving takes a turn when Death comes for them one by one, attempting to repay their debts. Each subsequent film usually followed that formula, with a bunch of people not dying who were supposed to, and then Death coming for them.

In this trailer though, we don’t see that. We don’t know what the inciting incident is or even if there is one. Just that this grieving tattoo artist is on Death’s list and it will stop at nothing to get him. Including pulling him up from the nose and then burning him to death in a hilarious but scary Rube Goldberg machine.

Bloodlines is directed by Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky (Freaks) from a script by Guy Busick (the new Scream movies) and Lori Evans Taylor (Cellar Door). The story is from those two as well as Spider-Man and Skeleton Crew director Jon Watts, who was previously attached. It stars a cast of mostly unknowns including Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Rya Kihlstedt, Anna Lore, Brec Bassinger, and the late, great, Tony Todd. It opens  May 16.
