Barcelona secured the signing of Vitor Roque from Athletico Paranaense during the summer of last year. The 18-year-old striker was one of the most sought-after players at the time with some top teams from England also vying for his signing.

But the teenager’s desire to play for Barça won out as the Catalans reached an agreement with Athletico for his signing, with the player signing a long-term contract until 2031.

The operation was worth a total of €61 million in total, with €30 million being a fixed fee and the remaining €31 million in variables.

Even though the deal for Roque was secured in the summer itself, the striker remained at Athletico until the end of 2023 and was brought in by Barça during the winter.

The 18-year-old had a slow start, but is growing in stature at the Catalan club, even scoring two goals in his last two appearances.

Now, a fresh report from Mundo Deportivo has brought forth the complete financial details of Roque’s transfer to Barcelona from Athletico Paranaense and the payment structure in place.

As mentioned earlier, the Catalan club agreed a transfer of €30 million fixed, plus €31 million in variables, and 20% of the capital gain in the event of a future sale of the player.

Of the €30 million in fixed payments, Barça has so far only made a first payment of €5 million so far and will pay the same amount every six months until the full fee has been paid.

As for the €31 million in variables, they are based on three different concepts.

For starters, Barcelona will pay Athletico a fee of €5 million every season that Roque plays more than 50% of the games, until up to €25 million.

Another €5 million is linked to ‘Tigrinho’ being among the three finalists for the ‘The Best’ award given by FIFA.

Finally, the remaining €1 million would be paid off if Roque were to win the Ballon d’Or as a Barcelona player before the summer of 2031 when his contract expires.
