With 27 months to the 2027 general elections, the Adamawa State Governor Ahamdu Fintiri has issued guidelines to his would-be successor, stressing that the state must remain a PDP stronghold.

Arewa PUNCH reports that the Fintiri list comes a day after the All Progressives Congress Adamawa State chapter threatened that the party will reclaim the state come 2027.

Speaking on Wednesday in Government House, when the 226 People’s Democratic Party ward chairmen and state executives of the party paid him a courtesy call, the governor said that any person willing to take over the mantle of leadership from him, must be a grassroots man with the interest of Adamawa people at heart.

The governor who commended the leadership of the party in the state under the chairman, Abubakar Shehu, also expressed his delight over  the foresight of the party ward executives for keeping the party very strong at the grassroots.

Fintiri who called for a quarterly meeting of the executives to strengthen the party, pointed out that the government was working to surpass what it had been doing, a trajectory, he promised to stick to till the people are satisfied and the state is better off.

The governor who also expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the Edo governorship poll, described the outcome as a “daylight robbery” and “rape on democracy.”

Fintiri declared, “Considering how the opposition became mischievous and used the social media to divert the attention of Nigerians, thereby robbing the people of their choice,  the party will seek redress in court until it reclaims its mandate,” he said.

The governor who pledged to remain a committed member of the PDP, urged the party men and women not to be deterred, but continue to collaborate as he works to salvage the country through PDP

According to him, “the PDP is full of capacity, energy, and the wherewithal to march the opposition,” reiterating that as long as “we hold the ground the party will bounce back to take over the country in 2027.”

In his remarks, the state PDP Chairman, Shehu who lauded the governor for receiving numerous national award even from the ruling APC-led federal government, said that the party in the state is keenly following his activities and proud of him.

He commended the governor for what he described as his “wonderful performance” while on a national party assignment in Edo, urging him to keep up the good work.

Shehu further expressed joy over  the governor’s infrastructure achievements in the state, tasking his successor to build on his legacies.
