Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has stressed the importance of his successor being a grassroots politician, one who prioritises the welfare of the people and is willing to make sacrifices for the state’s progress.
He made this remark during a solidarity visit from the chairmen of the 226 wards, along with local and state executive members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), at the government house in Yola.
The governor commended the leadership of the party under Barrister Tahir Shehu, praising the ward executives for their efforts in keeping the party strong at the grassroots.
Fintiri expressed disappointment over the outcome of the recent Edo gubernatorial election, describing it as a “broad daylight robbery” and an affront to democracy.
He vowed that the PDP would challenge the results in court to reclaim its mandate.
Reaffirming his loyalty to the PDP, the governor urged party members to unite in their efforts to save the country.
In his remarks, the state PDP chairman, Shehu, recognised Fintiri’s national achievements, including commendations from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government.
He also expressed hope that Fintiri’s successor would continue building on the governor’s legacy.
