Firerose is firing back at Billy Ray Cyrus‘ divorce filing with claims that paint him in a very negative light. The 62-year-old country singer got married to Firerose, 35, back in October 2023 and then filed for divorce in June 2024. He cited “irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct” as his reasons for filing, and he wants the marriage annulled due to “fraud.” A source has claimed that Billy Ray felt Firerose was using him for money and “so he can take care of her financially.” Firerose has filed court documents on June 14 that include her side of the story on what happened in the final days of her marriage to Billy Ray. In the docs, Firerose claimed that she was preparing to have a preventative double mastectomy surgery on May 24 after being diagnosed as a carrier of the BRCA1 gene mutation, according to People. In the days leading up to the surgery, Firerose said “chaos” broke out in her home and that her husband “continuously launched verbal assaults” at her. The complaint said, “When Wife would attempt to voice certain concerns, Husband would often call her a ‘selfish f—ing bitch’ and continually alleged that she was using him. With Wife’s major surgery date looming, she was reasonably afraid to leave or seek any type of help because she feared that Husband would interfere with her surgery or her lengthy recovery at home.” Just one day before the planned surgery, Billy Ray “ambushed” Firerose with the divorce documents. Firerose said in the documents that Billy Ray had been paying for her health insurance following their wedding and she was relying on him to cover costs for the surgery. “Wife relied on Husband’s promises to pay for her surgery, and Husband has now repudiated that promise. On the day Wife was set to get her surgery, she was instead searching for a place to live and under a significant amount of emotional distress,” the documents said. Firerose claimed she felt “unsafe” while living with Billy Ray and denied his claims that she engaged in inappropriate marital conduct.
