Segilola Resources Operating Limited has won the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management Oscar Award for Human Resources Best Practice in the mining sector.
According to a statement, the award was held recently in Abuja and acknowledged organisations that excel in strategic HR, talent development, employee engagement, and diversity and inclusion.
The firm declared that the award, inaugurated in 2012, had further cemented its reputation as a leader in innovative and inclusive labour practices within the mining industry.
The company said, “This award signifies a recognition of excellence, which is a testament to SROL’s dedication to outstanding performance management; setting an industry benchmark in achieving organisational goals.”
It added that the award boosted its credibility among stakeholders and reinforced trust in its operations among investors, clients, and the community.
“It motivates continuous improvement, inspiring SROL to keep refining processes and strategies while fostering a culture of innovation,” it stated.
SROL Human Resources Director, Oluwaseun Fagesi, expressed delight in the company’s dedication to aligning its HR practices with local and international standards.
He remarked that SROL’s Segilola Gold Mine was one of the largest employers in Osun State, with 98 per cent of its workforce being Nigerian, 44 per cent from Osun State, and 28 per cent from the local host community.
“This not only exceeds the commitments outlined in our Community Development Agreements but also positions the mine as a model for local employment and empowerment,” Fagesi said.
“SROL is determined to continue innovating and enhancing its HR practices,” Fagesi added, highlighting the company’s plans for improved communication, stakeholder collaboration, and sustainability initiatives.
