Let’s go for the great adventure! The France team will meet this Wednesday at Clairefontaine for the start of preparation for Euro 2024.

Two months after the last gathering, Didier Deschamps will find his men. Well, not all. Of the 25 players called by the coach, five players will be missing. There will of course be the three Real Madrid players involved in the Champions League final, namely Ferland Mendy, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni (although forfeited for this meeting). We must add the two Milanese, Théo Hernandez and Olivier Giroud, who left for Australia for a promotional tour with their club.

Maignan will be there

The good news is that Mike Maignan was excused from this trip to the southern hemisphere. The French goalkeeper is treating a finger injury. And as he has played little in recent weeks, it is good news that he is with the Blues, to be followed optimally by the French staff.

Maignan could thus play the first of the two friendly matches scheduled before the Euro, against Luxembourg in Metz (Wednesday June 5), in order to get back into rhythm. For the five absent from the restart, who will not join their teammate until Monday, they should only be used sparingly at Saint-Symphorien.

Finally, there are three other dates to remember: the limit granted to the coach to change his list in the event of injury is set for June 7. The second preparation match, against Canada in Bordeaux, will take place on June 9. The start of the Euro, for the Blues, is scheduled for June 17 against Austria in Düsseldorf.
