Hansi Flick’s Barcelona are currently in Serbia where they will take on Crvena Zvezda at the Rajko Mitic Stadium in a few hours.

The Blaugrana are, by far, the favourites to take home three points on the night despite it being a difficult stadium to conquer simply for the overwhelming form they have displayed in recent weeks.

After taking apart Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in two consecutive games, they continued their impressive run with a 3-1 win over Espanyol at the weekend. Now, the eyes are on Crvena Zvezda.

Serbian legend talks about Barcelona

Speaking in an interview (h/t SPORT) ahead of Barcelona’s day out in Belgrade, Serbian legend Savo Milosevic gave his thoughts on Hansi Flick’s side and heaped praise on their performances to date.

“Barça is the favourite not only against Red Star Belgrade, but against almost any team in the world. It all depends on Barça. If they are at their level, there won’t be any problems.”

“What I saw against Bayern and Real Madrid is a completely new football. Most people say modern, but I don’t like it, this is new worldwide. I have not yet seen such a perfect team technically and tactically that runs so much and with such intensity,” he added.

Comparing the current team to Pep Guardiola’s golden generation, he stated that Flick’s men could even outdo the club legends.

“This Barça can end up being better than Pep Guardiola’s, I really believe it because this team has one more thing, it runs a lot.”

Elaborating on what made them such a force to reckon with, he said: “This Barça doesn’t want to have the ball for having it, if you leave a gap they will massacre you.”

Finally, Milosevic gave his two cents on La Masia and how the academy has once again come to the Catalans’ rescue at a time when hope seemed lost.

“It is very good for all world football. It’s not just money, but they are an example for the world of football because it’s not about buying, which anyone who has money can do, but it’s about creating, that’s the beauty.”
