After a slow start to the season, Fermin Lopez has gained prominence in Hansi Flick’s Barcelona setup.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder was one of the Blaugrana’s most impressive players earlier this week as they defeated Borussia Dortmund 4-0 in the UEFA Champions League.

Given that Fermin has had to battle with Dani Olmo and Gavi for a place in the starting XI, there has been some speculation about his future at Barcelona, although the player has shown zero indication about considering an exit.

Now, Fichajes reports that Hansi Flick has made it clear to Barcelona: Fermin Lopez must not be sold in the summer.

The German coach has directly requested that the club rule out any transfer involving the young midfielder, whom he views as a key component in his tactical setup.

Despite intense competition in midfield, Flick believes Fermin brings energy, directness, and commitment that make him irreplaceable in the squad rotation.

The Spanish midfielder has proven his worth on the pitch. Though he started the season with a secondary role, his performances when called upon have consistently been impactful.

His work rate, paired with strong technical ability, has quickly earned him the trust of the new coaching staff.

Fully aware of the growing interest from major European clubs, Flick has taken the initiative to speak directly with Fermin. His message was unequivocal: he sees the midfielder as part of the 2025/26 project and urged him to ignore any incoming offers.

The Barcelona manager believes that the La Masia gem’s development will be best served by staying at the club and competing at the highest level alongside world-class teammates.

Despite interest from the likes of Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, and Aston Villa, those at Barça appear ready to support their manager’s wishes.

As such, Fermin remains one of the emerging young faces representing the immediate future of Barcelona and will not be sold.
