President Bola Tinubu has been advised to focus on issues that have a direct and immediate impact on the citizens.
The Chairman of Sacred Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Lagos District Council, Adebola Odubela, gave the charge on Wednesday, during a press briefing heralding the Sacred Evangelistic Ministry annual crusade tagged, PENIEL 2024 with the theme, “The Narrow Gate.”
The cleric, who cited the economic hardship in the country as critical, urged the Tinubu-led government to initiate programmes that would bring succour to the common man.
Beyond initiating them, Odubela said such programmes should be properly channelled and monitored to ensure the citizens benefit from them.
He said, “The government should be more concerned about people generally and I want to advise them to address issues that have a direct impact on the masses. They should also address the economy, the hardship is so much. We have never experienced what we are experiencing at the moment.
“The government should introduce programmes that will bring succour to the common man and beyond this, the programme should be adequately channelled and monitored to ensure that it gets to the masses. The government should do more to stabilise the economy. The issue of insecurity should also be addressed and taken seriously.
There is also a need to create more job opportunities to reduce the rate of unemployed youths in the country.”
Odubela said the programme which started 20 years ago focused on evangelism and the propagation of the word of God.
The three-day programme is held from December 4th to 6th at the Amoo playing ground in the Agege area of the state.
“People have testified to the goodness of God and more testimonies are expected this year. The programme will commence by 4 pm on the first two days and round off with a Vigil on the last day,” he added.
The church’s Evangelical Coordinator, Abraham Oyewole, said the ministry’s primary focus was to increase the citizens of heaven.
He added that the ministry also engaged in corporate social responsibility to cushion the effect of the economy on the less privileged.
He said, “To God be the glory, within the available resources, we have been able to engage in CSR. In July, we had an Evangelical tour in Ogun State where we distributed palliatives to the people.
“We were also able to provide palliative to some selected widows to support their means of livelihood.
“About seven days ago, we held medical outreach where we conducted free medical checkups for people and also distributed free drugs to them.”
