Phil Foden impresses Roy Keane and establishes himself as a potential starter for England.

Phil Foden is on fire this season. The Manchester City attacking midfielder achieved the double this Sunday during the Manchester derby against United (3-1), bringing his total to 18 goals and 10 assists in 40 appearances in all competitions.

The Stockport native’s performances impress, even the most demanding observers. Former Red Devils legend Roy Keane said on Sky Sports that Foden should start in the England team.

Keane is under the spell

“There is great competition within the England team and Gareth Southgate is very lucky, but Foden must be in the starting XI,” judged the former Irish international.

“He was brilliant in his forward play, but above all I want to remember the rest: his defensive work and the effort for the team. To me, this kid is a real team player. He needs to be in the England team,” he added.

THE Three Lions are expected on March 29 for a friendly match against Brazil at Wembley. Foden will perhaps have the opportunity to prove to Keane that he can prove essential to the England team led by Gareth Southgate.
