Former French footballer Eric Di Méco harshly tackled his ex-teammate, Didier Deschamps.

Due to the scale that the Mbappé affair has taken, Didier Deschamps came to explain himself this Monday. However, he did not do it in front of the press, but in private by making a clip for the federation’s website. An initiative which annoyed his former partner, Eric Di Méco.

For the 1993 European champion, Deschamps was not courageous enough in confronting the media because he knew that his position on the subject was questionable. “He doesn’t want to confront the journalists because he knows he’s going to be in trouble so they make a video for us on YouTube. There is a big problem,” he conceded on RMC Sport.

Di Méco charges Deschamps and Mbappé

Di Méco added by claiming that the coach’s explanation does not hold up and that this episode will create a dangerous precedent.

“Mbappé puts his club above the selection. Deschamps explains to us that what counts is the player while he has always put the Blues above everything. he confided.

Jérome Rothen also had to explain himself about this controversy. Although he did not approve of Deschamps’ method, he declared that he understood it: “Deschamps’ communication is catastrophic but his decision is logical. The player’s interest is a priority. Mbappé had a complicated start to the season and was injured. All this weighed on his thinking. He needs rest to get back in shape in November.”
