Real Madrid are considering the future of their defense for the years to come.

Real must invest in defense, especially after the two anterior cruciate ligament injuries suffered by its two starters, Eder Militao and David Alaba, in the space of a few months. Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite is one of the tipped talents.

The 21-year-old has been impressive this season and has been linked with Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in the past. Just over a month ago, reports in England claimed that Real Madrid were interested in Branthwaite. Today, as Diario AS reports, Los Blancos have inquired about his availability.

Branhwaite targeted

Rumors surrounding Real Madrid’s plans for this summer are contradictory, with some saying the Whites leaders will anticipate the recruitment of a young central defender. Others say the only reinforcement will be the return of Rafa Marin, on loan to Alaves.

In Spain, it is Lille’s Leny Yoro who is most closely linked with Real, while Goncalo Inacio and Antonio Silva have also been named as selected targets. It’s worth noting that all reports linking Branthwaite to the Spanish capital have come from England and there hasn’t been much noise around him in Madrid.
