Days after he left Amazon, Chris Brearton has found a new gig.

Brearton is joining Anthony and Joe Russo’s company as partner. It comes after Deadline revealed last week that he was leaving the streamer.

He was previously VP PVS Corporate Strategy, MGM+ and MGM Alternative Television. Brearton will oversee all aspects of the company’s business strategy, operations and growth.

Brearton joined MGM as Chief Operating Officer in February 2018. He spent four years in that role before taking on a broader role following Amazon’s $8.5 billion acquisition of the studio in 2022.

After shepherding MGM’s integration into Prime Video and Amazon Studios, Brearton took on the new role, leading business planning and corporate strategy for Prime Video and Studios and also overseeing MGM+ and MGM Alternative.

He is the latest to join the company following Fortnite co-creator Donald Mustard, who joined last year.

The company is behind series such as Citadel, which was renewed for a second season by Amazon, Chris Hemsworth feature film Extraction and Everything Everywhere All At Once.

“Chris is a dynamic and trusted leader in the industry with a proven ability to spearhead transformational strategic initiatives, drive operational excellence, and foster a culture of creativity and innovation,” said AGBO co-founder Anthony Russo. “His expertise and business acumen will be instrumental as we embark on this pivotal phase of accelerated growth across virtual, gaming, and linear media landscapes.”

“Anthony, Joe, and Donald are pioneers in this industry, and AGBO stands at the vanguard of the new media frontier as a trailblazing studio,” said Brearton. “I am excited to work with this innovative team as they turn their ambitious and creative vision to accelerate transformational world-building and global franchises across all media platforms into a reality.”
