Sergi Roberto finds himself at a crossroads in his career after his contract with FC Barcelona expired on June 30, with his next destination still undecided.

Barcelona have tabled a contract renewal for the 32-year-old but it is subject to him taking a pay cut as well as accepting that the club see him as last on the priority list for registration, with no guarantees being offered.

As such, the former captain is undecided on his next move yet, although he is still hopeful Barça can resolve the situation.

Roberto training at club facilities

With no contract, Roberto has not been training at Barcelona this summer, with the club not asking him to report for pre-season.

In fact, during his presentation, manager Hansi Flick bluntly stated that the veteran midfielder was not a Barça player as things stand.

However, now, SPORT reports that Roberto has been showing up to train at Barcelona’s training facilities.

Given that he has not been called up to train with the rest of the squad by manager Flick, Roberto has been forced to train by himself in order to stay in shape for the new season, be it with the Blaugrana or somewhere else.

Now, it has emerged that even though he is not contracted with the club any longer, Roberto has been showing up at Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper to train on multiple occasions.

The player from Reus has always done so without the new Barça training kit, wearing shirts from his sponsor Nike.

Despite the situation, Roberto is still waiting to see if he still has a place in Hansi Flick’s plans for the upcoming season, even though chances of him re-signing with Barcelona are slim.

A move to AFC Ajax has been talked about recently while there are clubs in the Premier League have also shown an interest. So, it remains to be seen how things evolve.
