Marcos Alonso is set to leave Barcelona on a free transfer at the end of the season after two years with the Catalan giants.
The 33-year-old has endured an injury-hit season, suffering a back problem in December and has not made a La Liga appearance since October.
The Spain international joined Barca from Chelsea in 2022 and appeared regularly in his first campaign, making 37 appearances across all competitions and winning La Liga in the process.
The full-back joined on an initial one-year contract but signed a new contract in January last year to stay on until the summer of 2024.
However, the injuries have cost him and his spell at the Camp Nou is set to come to an end this summer, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
Alonso has returned from injury and was on the bench for the 1-0 win over Las Palmas on 30 March in La Liga, hoping to finish his time at Barcelona strongly.
Xavi’s side are next in action in their Champions League quarter-final tie with PSG, starting in Paris on 10 April.
Alonso enjoyed a fnatastic six years with Chelsea after signing from Fiorentina in 2016 for a fee of around £24m.
The Spaniard went on to make 212 appearances, scoring 29 goals, and winning the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup.
Barca veteran Sergi Roberto is also out of contract at the end of this season and could join Alonso in leaving the club in the summer.
The 32-year-old has won seven La Liga titles and two Champions League titles with the Catalans, making over 350 appearances for his boyhood club.
