Former En Vogue Singer Dawn Robinson Speaks On Her Living Situation
The Shade Room grabbed a clip from a YouTube video where Dawn Robinson dropped the major life update. She specifically said, “You guys, for the past three years — almost three years — I have been living in my car.” Afterward, Robinson let out a relieved laugh and said, “I said it, it’s out!”
The 58-year-old explained that in 2020, she moved in with her parents in Las Vegas. But things took a turn when her mother started taking her frustrations out on her, so she decided to leave.
Afterward, her manager at the time invited her to Los Angeles and helped her secure a hotel. But the costs kept piling up. Dawn then started watching car life videos nonstop and decided that living in her car made the most sense, especially since she felt like her manager was just stringing her along.
Even with her current situation, Dawn said she’s got a solid support system, including her brother, her assistant, and her ex-partner’s mom. She also shared that living in her car has actually felt like a huge sense of freedom.
“I felt free. I was so free. I felt like, ‘Wow, this is so different.’ I felt like I was on a camping trip, and I felt like this was the right thing to do. I don’t regret it,” Robinson explained.
Additionally, she told fans she wasn’t seeking any sympathy, but she’s sharing her story because it’s been a journey of awakening and healing. “This is not like a ‘Poor Dawn.’ It’s not that. I’m learning about who I am; I’m learning myself as a person — as a woman.”
