Joe Hart has declared he will hang up his football boots at the end of the season.

The former Manchester City and England goalie will play out the season with Celtic before hanging up his boots in the summer.

Speaking in a clip that Celtic posted, Hart clarified: “As of June, I’m going to stop playing professional football.

“This is something that I’ve thought about for a while. There’s no right or wrong time but the way this club works that I’m playing at at the moment there’s so much on it.

“There’s so much heart and soul poured into what we’re doing as a football club, with the grand scheme of the club, the support base and the conversations that go on around it.

“There’s obviously a conversation around the goalkeeping position for next season so I just thought it was important with the blessing of the club.

“I’ve had conversations with the club, with Brendan (Rodgers), with Stevie Woods. That if we get the message out it leaves one less thing that people need to speculate over.”

The 36-year-old, who joined Celtic in 2021, has made 34 appearances this season, keeping 13 clean sheets.

In Scotland, Hart has won two league titles, two Scottish Cups, and two Scottish League Cups.

The former England international played in two European Championships and the 2014 World Cup, earning 75 caps for the Three Lions.

Hart went on to spend 12 years with Manchester City and won two Premier League titles.

Before joining Celtic three years ago, he played for Burnley and Tottenham, making 348 appearances for City.

The English goalkeeper has had a successful career and his time with Man City was the best time of his career.

In addition, he tied Petr Cech for the most Golden Gloves in Premier League history with his four trophies.
