Joshua Zirkzee is a wanted man in Italy despite completing a summer move to Manchester United.

The Reds decided to sign one striker in the summer to provide more goals. There is no denying that is what we needed but questions will remain whether he signed the right player until Zirkzee settles at his new club.

Anthony Martial finally said his farewell to United after his contract expired but there was already a worrying lack of goals with the Frenchman in the squad. His goals dried up and injuries became a constant issue making him unavailable for most matches.

Although Zirkzee scored a match-winner against Fulham on his competitive debut for the club, the Netherlands international has yet to add to his league tally and Erik ten Hag has opted to start Rasmus Hojlund since his return from a hamstring injury.

Zirkzee’s reputation has not suffered, though. The former Bologna striker remains a target for the biggest clubs in Italy.

Pabio Di Canio suggested just last week that Juventus should make a move to bring the 23-year-old back to Italy, as per The Sun.

Former Juventus chief Luciano Moggi has now added fuel to the fire by backing that claim in an interview with Calciomercato.

Moggi thinks Juve need to sign another striker to help carry to workload on Dusan Vlahovic.

“The team is certainly lacking in attack. We need to make a virtue of necessity,” Moggi said.

“Nico could also play as a striker, but we need a centre forward. A false nine? Zirkzee is one, he moves the ball around very well.”

Manchester United won’t let Joshua Zirkzee go so soon

Since joining the club, Zirkzee has shown enough technical ability to be given a chance at United. His link-up play has been incredible at times but we need to see him contributing to more goals.

It’s early days.

Zirkzee will play plenty of games throughout the season. He is expected to start on Thursday night when United try to get their Europa League campaign on track with a win over Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.

We can’t see United letting Zirkzee go any time soon, having invested so much money into signing him just a few months ago. Ten Hag tends to have faith in his players and we’re still light on strikers in the squad.
