A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kabiru Yahaya Classic, has announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Classic made the announcement on Thursday after holding a meeting with the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, the Chairman of the Senator Abdulaziz Yari Political Organization, Alhaji Lawal M. Liman, and other key APC stakeholders from Zamfara State in Kaduna.
The former lawmaker, who served as the representative for Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency from 2019 to 2023 under the PDP, stated that he defected along with the entire PDP structure in Talata Mafara Local Government Area.
This included the PDP Local Government Executives and 10 out of 11 PDP Ward chairmen in the area.
Explaining his reasons for leaving the PDP, Classic cited a lack of justice and fairness within the party’s operations in Zamfara.
He said, “I Kabiru Yahaya Classic, today, Thursday Nov. 7, 2024, wish to announce my defection from the PDP to the Progressive Party, the APC.
“I am defecting with all PDP structures in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, including the Local Government EXCO of the PDP and the 10 out of 11 Ward chairmen of the PDP.”
Receiving the ex-lawmaker, the State APC Chairman, Tukur Umar Danfulani, described his defection as a welcome development for the APC.
“We are happy to receive our brother in our great party, this is a great development.
“More defectors from the PDP-led Government in Zamfara ready to join the APC very soon
“We assure Classic and all the defectors of fair treatment in APC,” Danfulani stated.
