Former Manchester United star Jesse Lingard is set for a shock move to South Korean side FC Seoul, according to reports.

Lingard, a United academy graduate, left Old Trafford in 2022 after his contract expired having been with the club since the age of seven.

The 31-year-old had a forgettable campaign with Nottingham Forest last season, released again in the summer and is currently a free agent.

The former England international has been linked with moves to Saudi Arabia while Everton and Barcelona have also been credited with interest in his services.

But Lingard has now verbally agreed a two-year deal at FC Seoul with the option of a further year, Sky Sports have reported.

It is thought that Lingard is due to fly out to South Korea to complete the move in the coming days.

Lingard recently teamed up with new agents having binned off his previous representatives over their failure to find him a new club.

He made a total of 232 appearances for the Red Devils, producing 35 goals and 21 assists.

Since becoming a free agent after leaving Forest, Lingard trained with West Ham, where he enjoyed an excellent loan spell, and Al-Ettifaq under Steven Gerrard in Saudi Arabia but failed to agree a contract with either side.

He finished last season with just two goals and two assists for Forest under Steve Cooper, none of those coming in the Premier League where he started just 12 games.
