Former Manchester United star Louis Saha has given his thoughts on Erik ten Hag’s squad with the Reds set to host rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing 2-1 defeat at the Amex Stadium against Brighton last time out.
It will be a tough test to face Arne Slot’s Liverpool after two victories against Ipswich Town and Brentford in the opening fortnight of the Premier League campaign.
The former Ajax coach has opted for two midfielders Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes to lead the attack in the opening fixtures, however, he has been forced to change the system and bring Joshua Zirkzee off the bench in both fixtures.
Ahead of the Liverpool game former Manchester United star Louis Saha has given his opinion on how the Red Devils should line up on Sunday.
Louis Saha advises Ten Hag to drop Mason Mount for Liverpool clash
Saha believes that there were positive signs in the Brighton fixture but believes the Dutch coach must consider some tactical changes against Liverpool.
Speaking to Betfred Insights, the former Red Devil said: “It would be nice to see Joshua Zirkzee start. He’s a player that’s very interesting and gets involved in the right places. I’d like to see his game improve with more minutes and confidence.
“Mason Mount has been very active but from an attacking midfielder, that’s not enough. He needs to push himself more because there are players on the bench waiting to take his place. For Sunday’s game though, I’d definitely like to see a striker up top because even though the false nine works sometimes in terms of pressing, that’s not the mission. The mission is to score goals.”
