Tottenham Hotspur striker Troy Parrott is currently on loan at Excelsior and he has impressed with his performances.

However, former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson has warned that the 22-year-old could be sold at the end of the season in order to comply with the financial regulations.

He told Tottenham News: “Well they’ve sent him out this season obviously for game time, and at 22 you would expect him to have more of an impact on the first team if he was part of the manager’s future planning.

“For him, he could become a victim of the FFP and PSR rules and the home-grown player Spurs might see an opportunity to cash in on a player that would quite quickly balance up some books that might not be looking in the right way.”

Tottenham will be hoping to improve their squad during the summer transfer window and they might need to balance the books. Parrott could prove to be a useful option for them when it comes to raising funds.

The 22-year-old does not have a future at the north London club and selling him would be ideal for all parties. He has 8 goals in 15 starts for Excelsior this season and he needs to play regularly at this stage of his career.

A move away from Tottenham would be beneficial to the striker’s development as well.

It will be interesting to see if Spurs can fetch a substantial amount of money for the Republic of Ireland international during the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old needs to join a club where he will get ample first team opportunities. He has the quality to compete at a high-level but he will need constant game time and coaching for now.

Meanwhile, the north London outfit need to bring in a reliable goal scorer in the summer and it remains to be seen whether they can fill the void left by Harry Kane at the start of the season.
