Former Celtic player Anthony Stokes has been sentenced to five months in jail for breaching court orders by contacting his ex-girlfriend and her family.
According to The Mirror, the court heard that Stokes repeatedly messaged his ex-partner, accusing her of infidelity and questioning her parenting abilities.
Depute fiscal Fergus Warner revealed to the court that Stokes had bombarded his ex-girlfriend with emails, breaching the ban.
Stokes also posted statuses on social media alluding to his ex-partner’s alleged infidelity.
These actions came after Stokes admitted to sending abusive messages via WhatsApp and email to his ex-girlfriend in September 2019.
He had resorted to name-calling and showed up uninvited at her residence, demanding to know her whereabouts. The abuse persisted from July 2018 to February 2019.
Stokes had previously been issued a four-year non-harassment order against his ex-girlfriend and her parents in September 2019. He was also enrolled in an anti-domestic abuse program.
