Arsenal were defended by none other than ex-Tottenham star Jamie O'Hara amid claims that West Ham's front three is better than the Gunners'.

Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are widely considered to be one of the most lethal and exciting trios in the Premier League.

But despite coming up short in firing Arsenal to the top-flight title last season, they have just 13 league goals between them this campaign.

In comparison, Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta have 19 goals as a collective for the Hammers.

And ex-West Ham striker Carlton Cole believes this is proof that they are better on current form - a claim that was instantly rejected by O'Hara.

Speaking on The Sports Bar, Cole said: "Let's talk about Arsenal's front three, you've got Saka - a really good player - do you think he's better than Kudus?"

After giving a swift 'Yes,' Cole remarked: "Well Kudus has just come, so I'm going to say OK for now.

"Bowen, I think he's better than Jesus."

Not having it, O'Hara interjected: "He's not better than Jesus! Jesus plays for his country [Brazil] week in, week out, what are you talking about?

"Jesus is a top striker, Bowen is a really good player, for West Ham."

Moving onto Jesus' compatriots, Cole then stated: "On the left, we've got Paqueta who is better than Martinelli. Martinelli don't even start at the moment!"

Again coming to the defence of Arsenal, O'Hara said: "Martinelli may be having an average season, but Martinelli is world class on his day.

Jamie O'Hara left shocked by Eric Dier moving to Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur

"What are you saying? Are you saying that West Ham's front three is better than Arsenal's?"

After Cole insisted he would take West Ham's over Arsenal's, a stunned O'Hara commented: "Honestly, you're talking garbage. You're talking garbage!"

But the stats show Cole's view isn't so far-fetched, with Kudus and Saka scoring the same amount of Premier League goals, though the latter's seven assists dwarfs the Ghanaian's one.

On the opposite wing, Martinelli's four strikes is double Paqueta's tally, though the former has three less assists than the ex-Lyon forward's five.

And there is no comparison up top between Jesus and Bowen, with the former Manchester City man scoring just three times to his rival's 11, while the duo have both registered two assists.

It's West Ham that have bragging rights over Arsenal this season - first knocking them out of the Carabao Cup at the fourth round.

They followed that victory up with a shock 2-0 league win at the Emirates last month, where Bowen was on target in both games.
