The Victor Tulutu Briggs Foundation has awarded scholarships to 50 students of the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The beneficiaries, selected from undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, were presented with their scholarship awards on Monday.
A Tuesday statement noted that the awards were part of a commitment made during the maiden youth political participation and governance training programme, organised by the University of Port Harcourt’s Centre for Politics, in collaboration with the foundation in October.
The event saw the attendance of key officers from the foundation, including the General Counsel, Winnie Morganson, who represented the President, Dr Victor Briggs.
Others include the Secretary of the foundation, Jackson Allen, and the Rivers State Liaison Officer, Richard Ogbonna.
The scholarships covered the total school charges for the students and provided a stipend for their upkeep.
The management of the university and strategic partners commended the foundation for its support, which will enable the students to pursue their academic dreams without financial hindrance.
Briggs, speaking through his representatives, stressed the importance of hard work and diligence, reminding the students that “to whom much is given, much is expected.”
