Barcelona will resume the defence of their La Liga title this Saturday when they take on UD Las Palmas at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic.
It is a crucial game for Barça as they look to ramp up the pressure on leaders Real Madrid in the title race and build some momentum ahead of matches against PSG and Los Blancos next month.
Four players staring at suspension risk
Heading into the game, though, as many as five Barcelona players are staring at the risk of suspension.
Indeed, Robert Lewandowski, Joao Cancelo, Oriol Romeu, and Inigo Martinez are all on four yellow cards in La Liga at this time.
Another booking on Saturday night against Las Palmas would earn them a direct one-match suspension for accumulation of cards. It would rule the quartet out of the next league game against Cadiz.
Andreas Christensen is also on four yellow cards at the moment, but the Dane will not be involved in tomorrow’s match as he is dealing with some discomfort.
After the Cadiz clash, Barcelona are scheduled to face Real Madrid in a potentially title-deciding El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Not getting booked tomorrow would mean the aforementioned players would go into the Cadiz game on four bookings and then face the risk of getting suspended for the Clasico, which could be disastrous for Barcelona.
So, it becomes extremely important that the aforementioned stars maintain discipline in the upcoming couple of games heading into the business end of the season.
