The summer transfer window may have closed for business in England, but certain other leagues are still able to sign players as well as the free transfer market still being open.
What that means in practice is that, even though the 2024/25 Premier League season is three games old already, players from the English top-flight could still be poached if all parties are willing.
Although Newcastle have appeared to be able to rebuff all offers for any of their big or experienced players, there’s still a queue of suitors for the Magpies former captain, Kieran Trippier.
Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier has four clubs chasing him
According to Sky Sports, Al Ittihad are trying to secure the 33-year-old on a permanent deal, whilst Turkish giants Fenerbahce and Besiktas as well as Eyupspor are looking to put together a loan deal for Trippier’s services.
It’s believed that Trippier retains the confidence of manager, Eddie Howe, and the backroom team, but that doesn’t stand up when you consider that the player has only played for 32 minutes of the current Premier League campaign (WhoScored) with Tino Livramento now evidently preferred at right-back.
Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier is wanted by four clubsTo that end, it’s perfectly understandable why the former England international might be looking for pastures new.
Any move is likely to be one of the last of his career, therefore it needs to tick all of the boxes for the player to consider making the move away from St. James’ Park.

Were Trippier to move on, his influence on the dressing room will be sorely missed, and perhaps that’s why Howe has been so keen to keep him on board.
At present, it’s fair to say that the ball is in Trippier’s court as if he makes it plain enough that he wants to leave, Newcastle would almost certainly be unlikely to stand in his way, whatever their public protestations may be.
