The non-selection of Stéphanie Frappart for Euro 2024 does not please everyone.

This Tuesday, UEFA revealed the identity of the nineteen referees selected for Euro 2024, which will take place from June 14 to July 14 in Germany. A list in which two French officials appear: Clément Turpin and François Letexier. Present at Euro 2021 and the 2022 World Cup, Stéphanie Frappart was not selected.

A non-selection that Eric Borghini, the president of the federal referees commission, regrets. “I am disappointed that UEFA did not select Stéphanie Frapparthe informed The Team. They have their own selection criteria, but it’s unfortunate. This still puts a stop, temporarily in any case, to the presence of women referees at the highest European level. The fact of not retaining her and even more so of not taking any woman as central referee, is a bad signal. »

“Stéphanie Frappart seems to be having a slightly less accomplished season than the previous ones”

However, Éric Borghini recognizes that the French referee is probably not having his best season. “We don’t yet have the rankings for the season, he added. We just have an impression at the moment. I can simply say that Stéphanie Frappart seems to be having a slightly less successful season than the previous ones. » During the 2022-2023 financial year, Frappart ranked 4th.

As a reminder, Stéphanie Frappart will also not officiate during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, she who was not selected by FIFA unlike François Letexier.
