As every time a list is revealed, there is debate. This evening, after the announcement of the 25 players selected by Didier Deschamps to play in Euro 2024, we could wonder why the coach had chosen to maintain his confidence in a Randal Kolo Muani who was in great difficulty at Paris Saint-Germain. In 2022, the former Nantes man came close to being a national hero. Today, he is the target of waves of criticism.
Recruited by PSG last summer for €90 million, RKM has only scored 12 goals and delivered 6 assists in 43 matches. And in the big events of the season, notably in the Champions League, Luis Enrique almost never trusted him. At a time when some are wondering why Kolo Muani is always ahead in Deschamps’ mind compared to attackers such as Alexandre Lacazette (20 goals, 5 assists) or Moussa Diaby (10 goals, 9 assists), DD s ‘is explained at a press conference.
DD still believes in RKM
“On playing time, Kolo, well… everyone has their own analysis. I find you rather harsh. He doesn’t do everything right. He is not in a climate of great confidence due to his transfer. We must not forget where it comes from. With us, he has a different framework. He was already in this situation in March, which did not prevent him from having a very good match (against Chile) with his qualities”he indicated, before discussing the situation of RKM at PSG.
“I hope things go better with his club. You didn’t wonder if Giroud was going to be there. For years, he played little or nothing with Chelsea… Then there is the player’s potential. It doesn’t matter which coach they have, the most important thing is that they know what I expect of them. Obviously, there is a significant gap between what Kolo can do with PSG and what he is capable of doing with us.. That’s what it says!
