Michael Olise has completed his transfer to Bayern Munich after signing a five-year deal with the Bundesliga giants.
The news comes as a blow to several clubs that were hopeful of signing Olise from Palace, however, it was Bayern that got the deal done.
United and Chelsea were both linked with Olise for the past year, but the French winger has left Selhurst Park for the biggest football club in Germany.
Palace will pocket £60 million from the transfer after Bayern activated Olise’s release clause last month.
Speaking after signing the dotted line for Bayern, Olise told club media: “The talks with FC Bayern were very positive, and I’m very happy to now be playing for such a big club.
“It’s a great challenge, and that’s exactly what I was looking for. I want to prove myself at this level and play my part in. ensuring that we win as many titles as possible with our team in the coming years.”
It’s the second year in a row that Bayern Munich have signed one of United’s transfer targets. Last year they secured a deal for Harry Kane with Tottenham Hotspur but ironically failed to win a piece of silverware in his first season.
With Olise next season, Kane can expect plenty of service as he will be joined by one of the Premier League’s best attacking players over the past two years.
The tricky winger had multiple hamstring injuries last season, but he still managed to score 10 goals and made six assists in just 19 appearances.
Olise joined Palace from Reading for just £9m in 2021. United first scouted the French winger during his time in the Championship. Bayern’s transfer fee makes him the Eagles’ record sale, after Aaron Wan-Bissaka…
After being selected by Thierry Henry for the France Olympics team, Olise won’t join Bayern immediately.
