Manchester United have around three weeks to find a suitable outcome to Marcus Rashford’s uncertain future.

It’s thought that all options are on the table from the club’s end, whether it be a permanent sale, loan, or being restored to Ruben Amorim’s squad in the near future. Paying a player £325,000 a week to not even be making the matchday squad is pretty farcical – even for United.

Should Rashford be omitted from the travelling squad for Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Arsenal, it’ll mark the seventh straight game that he’s been overlooked by the boss. He did make the bench for last week’s defeat to Newcastle United but was an unused substitute.

In terms of the reported options on the table for the 27-year-old, he has garnered widespread interest across Europe from the likes of AC Milan, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Como and, more recently, Barcelona.

A move to Spain is believed to be Rashford’s dream destination, so despite his agent already holding talks with Milan earlier this week, he may rebuff their approaches in favour of sealing a mid-season switch to the La Liga giants.

Of course, Barcelona are always navigating a notoriously precarious financial situation – so much so that they faced a lengthy battle with the league to re-register Dani Olmo in time for the second half of the term. As such, a permanent offer from Hansi Flick’s side is near impossible, so they’re likely to present a loan with option-to-buy proposal.

Spanish journalist Toni Juanmarti adds that the Blaugrana are ready to go ‘all out’ to seal the Carrington graduate’s signature as they look to close the five-point gap between themselves and first-placed rivals Real Madrid in the coming months.

Rashford, previously hailed as ‘unstoppable’ by ex-manager Erik ten Hag, is contracted to Old Trafford 2028, having signed a lucrative five-year deal after his career-best 30-goal campaign in 2022/2023.
