Fulham have emerged as a contender alongside Roma in the pursuit of Werder Bremen goalkeeper Michael Zetterer ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, as reported by calciomercato.it.

Roma are in search of a successor to Rui Patricio and have turned their attention to both Zetterer and Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret. The report also notes that Roma face stiff competition for Zetterer, with Fulham entering the fray as potential rivals.

Reports indicate that Fulham, Rennes, and Galatasaray are interested in acquiring Zetterer, with a reported price tag of just €6 million (£5 million) being mentioned.

Fulham currently boasts two German goalkeepers, Bernd Leno and Steven Benda, alongside Slovakian Marek Rodak. Bringing in Zetterer would likely introduce competition for Leno, but whether Zetterer would opt to transition from being a first-choice goalkeeper at Werder to potentially serving as a backup at Fulham remains uncertain.

Standing at 6 feet 2 inches tall, Zetterer began his career with the Werder Bremen second team before going out on loan to Austria Klagenfurt and PEC Zwolle. While he made a few appearances for Werder’s first team in Germany’s second tier during the 2021/22 season, Zetterer has notably progressed this season.
