Bret Hart has held a long-standing grudge against Bill Goldberg for the kick at Starrcade 1999 that ended his wrestling career. He’s been outspoken about his issues with Goldberg over the years and now Goldberg’s son Gage has addressed Bret Hart’s bitter remarks.

While speaking to Bill Apter, Gage Goldberg was asked about Bret Hart constantly going after his father. Gage expressed that it’s time to move on from the incident, stating that accidents happen and lingering on past events isn’t productive, especially when Goldberg has already achieved a ton of success in professional wrestling.

“We don’t really like to talk about that a lot but, I mean, you gotta let things go, one hundred percent. You can’t just keep harping on this one thing when someone’s successful. Stuff happens.”

Due to the kick, Bret Hart suffered post-concussion syndrome, which forced him to prematurely hang up his pro wrestling boots. Bret Hart went on record and said that Goldberg’s work rate was “0/10.”

Fans often wonder how the wrestling landscape might have changed if Bret Hart had continued his career. While Hart has publicly stated he forgives Goldberg for the WCW incident that ended his time in the ring, it’s clear that some feelings about the event still remain, despite the fact that even Goldberg told Bret Hart to stop harboring so much hatred.
