Gail Kim is unsure if she’d come out of retirement to team with Mickie James in TNA.
It was reported last year that Gail Kim considered coming out of retirement. She planned a tag team run with Mickie James which would have given a huge boost to the TNA Knockouts division.
However, the plan fell through and Gail Kim remained working in TNA talent relations instead.
Gail Kim recently spoke with Ella Jay on A Wrestling Gal. She was asked about the plan to team with Mickie James last year. She said that the plan sadly fell through and it wasn’t meant to be.
“It was a potential plan that unfortunately fell through, and of course, it would have been so exciting. I got really excited at the idea, but I truly believe everything happens for a reason. Mickie’s road went another way, and so, it just wasn’t meant to be at that moment—that’s all.”
When asked if she would be open to teaming with Mickie James in the future, Gail Kim was sheepish about giving a concrete answer. She said “never say never”, but admitted it would be difficult to come out of retirement again.
“With a situation like that, you say ‘Never Say Never,’ but I feel like I have so much to give behind the scenes. It’s very difficult—listen, if I’m ever going to get back in the ring, I have to give 100 million percent because I care that much about what the fans see and about my legacy. So, it would be a hard decision, for sure. I’m not getting any younger.”
Gail Kim Planned To Team With Mickie James In 2024 For TNA, Why It Didn’t Happen
We almost saw a tag team run of Gail Kim and Mickie James in TNA Wrestling this year.
TNA Wrestling‘s Gail Kim was a recent guest on Gabby AF. When asked about a potential in-ring return in the future, Kim revealed there were plans for her and Mickie James to team up this year to boost the Knockouts Tag Team division but the timing didn’t work out.
“A lot of people don’t know this, but at the end of last year….now it’s not going to happen, so I can talk about it. We were talking about having me and Mickie (James) tag,” Gail Kim revealed. “Get into the tag division to help boost the Knockouts tag division. The timing wasn’t right. It was supposed to be for the beginning of this year.
“Nick (Aldis) was going into WWE as Mickie was taking a step back. It wasn’t working timing-wise. Then, I suggested maybe me and Nattie. I was trying to work with that cross-promotion. Once all the management changes happened at the beginning of this year, I honestly took on so much that I can’t see it happening with the roles that I have backstage. The longer you don’t wrestle for, it just becomes more difficult.”
