The European Championships are fast approaching for Gareth Southgate and England, as well as all the other competition nations.

Just over three weeks until the Euros in Germany begin on 14 June.

Gareth Southgate set to name his preliminary England squad on Tuesday (21 May).

This can then be scaled down and changed before coming up with the final 26 man squad that will travel to Germany.

The very final deadline set by UEFA is Friday 7 June but Gareth Southgate expected to name his final England squad before then.

Interesting to see that despite having a choice of all 20 teams playing at the same time, Gareth Southgate chose the Brentford v Newcastle match to go to on the final day of the Premier League season.

As to who he could have been taking a late check on… Nick Pope returned for his first NUFC start in five and a half months, whilst Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier came off the bench. Maybe a big longshot but is Lewis Hall a wildcard with England’s problems at left-back and he has been excellent once getting this late run of games. Obviously plenty of other English players on show for Newcastle United but Barnes, Burn, Longstaff and Murphy aren’t likely to be in Southgate’s thoughts. Not too sure if any others at Brentford that could have interested Gareth Southgate, apart from Ivan Toney. However, he has now gone 12 games in a row without a goal and has only scored four goals in the Premier League these past 13 months, which of course included the gambling ban.

Newcastle United fans heading into a busy summer, with various dates listed below.

For starters, following Southgate’s squad announcement tomorrow, you then have the two post-season games in Australia this week.
