A former hair and makeup artist has sued Garth Brooks for sexual assault and battery.

On Thursday (October 3), a woman identified as “Jane Roe” filed a lawsuit in California that accused him of inappropriate sexual behavior and rape in 2019.

The lawsuit was filed weeks after Garth filed an anonymous lawsuit seeking to have the allegations blocked.

According to reporting by CNN, the woman started working with Garth in 2017. The lawsuit said that Garth exposed himself to her and discussed sexual topics in person and via text message.

In one incident of alleged assault, she said that the singer “forced” her hands onto his genitals after a shower. Another occurred as they traveled together to film a performance for a Grammys tribute in May 2019.

“Usually there were others on Brooks’ private jet but this time, Ms. Roe and Brooks were the only two passengers,” the lawsuit alleges. “Once in Los Angeles at the hotel, Ms. Roe could not believe that Brooks had booked a hotel suite with one bedroom and she did not have a separate room.”

She said that he “appeared in the doorway to the bedroom, completely naked,” leaving her feeling “trapped.”

Garth is also accused of repeatedly talking about “having a threesome” with his wife Trisha Yearwood, who did not return a request for comment from CNN.

The lawsuit comes after CNN reported that an anonymous male celebrity was trying to block an accuser from suing them, denying the allegations and saying that they would “irreparably harm” him.

He reportedly took these steps in September in Mississippi.

Garth alleged that his accuser’s claims come after he denied them “salaried employment and medical benefits.”

“Defendant’s allegations are not true,” his lawsuit read. “Defendant is well aware, however, of the substantial, irreparable damage such false allegations would do to Plaintiff’s well-earned reputation as a decent and caring person, along with the unavoidable damage to his family and the irreparable damage to his career and livelihood that would result if she made good on her threat to ‘publicly file’ her fabricated lawsuit.”

Her attorneys issued a statement to CNN, accusing Garth of trying to “silence” her.

“We are confident that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions,” they said. “We applaud our client’s courage in moving forward with her complaint against Garth Brooks. The complaint filed today demonstrates that sexual predators exist not only in corporate America, Hollywood and in the rap and rock and roll industries but also in the world of country music.”
