Three of Manchester United’s four new signings made their competitive debuts in the 1-0 win over Fulham.
Noussair Mazraoui may not get all of the headlines, but he started and put in a really good shift at right-back.
The Morocco international arrived at United alongside former Ajax and Bayern Munich team-mate Matthijs de Ligt, who was one of the three to be handed a debut by Erik ten Hag tonight, earlier this week.
Mazraoui started at right-back while Dalot was swapped to the opposite flank due to the absence of Luke Shaw, who is currently out of action with a calf injury.
The 26-year-old was superb in the first half, showing a degree of confidence on the ball and off it during his debut.
He was eventually replaced in the 81st minute by fellow new signing De Ligt.
Former United right-back Gary Neville was impressed by Mazraoui’s performance.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the match, Neville said (via BBC Sport): “The fact Fulham have got the pace in wide areas, Noussair Mazraoui had a really good game – he settled in really well.”
Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come.
However, Dalot won’t hope so after failing to perform on the left.
Perhaps Mazraoui will be the one to push him furthest when Shaw returns.
