Gary Neville took aim at Gabby Agbonlahor after the talkSPORT host named Nemanja Vidic as the most overrated defender in Premier League history.

The former Aston Villa captain was asked to name the best centre-backs in the Premier League era and pointed to Rio Ferdinand and John Terry as the leading pair - and, fresh from appearing on Dragon's Den, Neville was having none of it.

He also gave notable mentions to Sol Campbell, Ledley King and Vincent Kompany but when tasked with naming the most overrated defender, former Manchester United star Vidic was the only name that sprung to mind.

“I’ve said it before, I didn’t find Vidic hard to play against,” Agbonlahor told the talkSPORT Breakfast. “Whenever he came tight, I’d spin in behind him. I could hold the ball up against him. Other players might say different, but that's my opinion.”

Neville, a former teammate of the tough-tackling Serbian and new addition to BBC show Dragon's Den, fired back at Agbonlahor by reposting a statistic from a United-themed account on X, formally known as Twitter.

The post read: “So Gabby Agbonlahor has said Vidic is the most overrated defender in PL history and he didn't find it hard to play against him.

“Just a reminder that Agbonlahor played #MUFC 22 times in his career and won once, couldn't have been that easy then.”

Vidic is widely recognised as one of the Premier League greatest centre-backs, forging a feared defensive partnership alongside Ferdinand.

He signed for United from Russian club Spartak Moscow in 2005 in a bargain £7million deal and quickly became a household name for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.

Vidic went on to make 300 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 21 times during his eight-year stay at Old Trafford.

The Serbian departed for Inter Milan in 2014 but not before scooping five Premier League titles, Champions League success in 2008 and the FIFA Club World Cup.

We're not sure you've convinced us, Gabby!
