The OM coach is full of praise for one of the elements of his squad, which he considers absolutely essential to his team.

Sunday evening, Olympique de Marseille won (2-0) against FC Nantes, at the Stade Vélodrome, in the closing match of the 25th day of Ligue 1. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice during this meeting (17th and 79th), allowing the Marseille club to seriously return to the race for European places.

At the end of the match, Jean-Louis Gasset praised his Gabonese striker. “It’s the player, in all teams you have the player, so you put the player where he likes and then you build the team. It’s the person who makes us play well, who scores the goals for us, if we have to work, he comes back to work. It’s generosity itself, but it’s the player of the squad”confided the 70-year-old technician at a press conference.

A defense ” heroic »

“I’m proud of the state of mind. It was our fifth match in 18 days and we played a full match three days ago (against Villarreal). Today (Sunday) we didn’t have 90 minutes in our legs. Aubameyang scored two goals and the defense did the rest. We had virtues of solidity and solidarity which are nice to see, even if the team was not very lively. Defensively, we were heroic”underlines Jean-Louis Gasset, undefeated since his arrival on the OM sidelines.

On Thursday, the club from the South of France will travel to Villarreal for the round of 16 second leg of the Europa League. Three days later, the Olympians will make another trip to Rennes, before the international break.
