The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
The Gates Foundation has announced a budget of $8.74bn for 2025, with plans to increase annual distributions to $9bn by next year.
Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Mark Suzman, said the record approval by its governing council is in line with the foundation’s commitment to a world “where everyone, everywhere, deserves the chance to live a healthy, productive life.”
The Gates Foundation is renowned for helping people lead healthy, productive lives, while its work in developing countries is to create impactful solutions so that people can take charge of their futures and achieve their full potential.
Speaking, Suzman said, “At the start of the Gates Foundation’s 25th anniversary year, its governing board approved the largest budget in its history.
“The foundation will operate with a budget of US$8.74bn in 2025.
“The budget is in line with the foundation’s commitment to reach overall annual distributions of US$9 bn next year,” Suzman said.
This year, the foundation’s spending will be directed towards tackling global inequities and addressing critical health and development challenges.
Specific focus would be reducing maternal and child mortality by funding the delivery of life-saving tools to lower death rates among mothers and children; and, combating infectious diseases through supporting programs aimed at reducing the burden of infectious diseases worldwide.
Suzman highlighted the need for increased investment amid what he described as “the greatest headwinds to health and development progress in a generation.”
In addition to announcing its record budget, the Gates Foundation unveiled a rebranding initiative that includes a simplified name—“Gates Foundation”—and a new logo.
The updated branding underscores the foundation’s ongoing dedication to supporting partners, communities, and programs globally.
The organization also revealed changes to its management team, signaling a refreshed leadership approach for its next chapter.
