It’s going to be a while before we get the fourth and fifth seasons to round out Netflix’s adaptation of The Witcher, with Liam Hemsworth taking over the live-action series’ version of Geralt of Rivia. But in the meantime, the streamer has another Geralt to tide you over, in the form of a very familiar gaming voice.

As Netflix’s Geeked Week celebrations continue, the streamer has released the first extended clip from its next actual Witcher project, the animated movie Sirens of the Deep. The film, directed by Kang Hei Chul and animated by Studio Mir (who also animated the last Witcher animated project, prequel series Nightmare of the Wolf), Sirens of the Deep adapts Witcher author Andrzej Sapkowski’s short story A Little Sacrifice. But while Sirens will bring in a few stars from the live-action series to reprise their roles, namely Anya Chalotra and Joey Batey as Yennefer and Jaskier, respectively, they’ll be joined by another new Geralt. Well, “new.”

As previously announced, Doug Cockle, who iconically growled Geralt to life in CD Projekt Red’s Witcher video games, will play Geralt in Sirens, which sees the Witcher tasked to defend a coastal village, only to be drawn into an ancient conflict between humankind and merpeople. Forced to draw on allies old and new to stop tensions simmering into all-out war, before Geralt draws his swords once more he has to rest up and contemplate his lonely life (with a little prodding from Jaskier) as you can see in the clip below, introduced by Cockle himself.

There’s not much to go on but it’s an interesting combination to hear Batey and Cockle’s takes on Jaskier and Geralt bounce off each other in this way. Before we brace ourselves for live-action Geralt to get a sudden makeover in season four, it’s a cute little way to prepare Netflix viewers for a different spin on Geralt, even if Cockle’s voice is already very familiar to legions of gaming fans.

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is set to hit Netflix on February 11, 2025.
